Ferrules were the very first item manufactured by Raytec. Ferrules still hold an important place in Raytec’s history and in Raytec’s product line. Although the popularity of spikes and ferrules has given way to hidden hangers, many installers still use them and would not use anything else.TRADITIONAL FERRULES
For many years spike and ferrule was the popular and main fastener used to fasten K-style or Ogee gutter to the fascia boards. Most ferrules were made with what was commonly known as a butt seam, which simply means, the open seams butt up against one another. The problem with this style is they tend to open up at the butt seam and not provide the strength to support the gutter when driving in the spike. Furthermore, if not properly placed with the butt seam side down, moisture could get in and compromise the integrity of the ferrule, spike and ultimately the installation.
REASON FOR INTER-FIN FERRULE
The inter-fin adds strength to the ferrule and consequently provides full support for the spike. Another advantage is it will not open up or separate under pressure so it provides full support for the spike.
Available in many choices of lengths starting from 4½ inches up to 7 inches in aluminum, copper, and galvanized.
